The last two years have seen as many Salman Khan songs become anthems. Now, this summer he will return to the big screen with Character dheela…Like his other anthems, this track that introduces the role he plays in Anees Bazmee’s Ready also has a few steps that look like they will become a rage.
Music-director Pritam and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya worked for six months to perfect the number; and recently Khan finished shooting it in three different nightclubs spread over five days under the choreography of Raju Khan and Mudassar Khan in Bangkok. Seems like there’s not a single unit member who’s not raving about it.
“Although it’s a club song, we didn’t want it to come across as a ‘me too’. So along with Pritam and Amitabh, we worked hard to ensure that it’s not only catchy, but also appeals to the masses and elite alike,” says Bhushan Kumar, Ready’s producer along with Rajat Rawail.
According to him, the song was shot in Bangkok because clubs in the city are too exposed. “When you see it, you will agree that those discotheques are different from the ones you’ve seen in reality and films,” says Kumar, adding that the song has a few hook steps, like the belt holding move in Dabangg.
The filmmaker also reveals that the track has been formatted differently. “Some songs take two-odd weeks to get popular, but this one will register instantly, like Munni badnaam hui…” he says. No wonder Kumar has decided to start Ready’s promotions with this Khan song, more than a month before the film opens on June 3.
