Salman Khan might just be the most wanted man in Bollywood at the moment. Every second filmmaker seems to want to work with the star. But the flipside to that is a super-busy schedule. And that, at the moment, has left a whole lot of filmmakers scrambling for dates to shoot with him.

Salman is currently shooting for brother Sohail Khan’s directorial Mental, and is confirmed to start filmmaker and friend Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick from July 24. Sajid says, “I’m looking forward to working with Salman in July. I’m sure it’ll be a great experience.”

But around half a dozen other filmmakers — whose films Salman has given a nod to — are still waiting for dates. Besides the announced projects, other films like Dabangg 3 and brother Sohail Khan’s Sher Khan are also believed to be in the queue. We take a close look at the announced projects.

Filmmakers in the queue for Salman’s time

Subhash Ghai

Maker: Ghai (director-producer)

Story so far: In January, Ghai told HT Café that he will team up with Salman. They last worked together to make a dud called Yuvvraaj (2008). The “action-packed masala entertainer,” as Ghai called it, he was supposed to start it in January 2014. “I have a commitment with Salman… next year, a film with Salman is surely on,” he said.

Current status: No official start date. Ghai, meanwhile, is busy with another directorial venture, Kaanchi.

Ramesh Taurani

Makers: Taurani (producer); Prabhudheva (director)

Story so far: Taurani signed Salman last year for an action film that would see him working with Wanted (2008) director Prabhudheva. There’s no sign of it hitting the floors anytime soon. The producer last said that the film will start by the end of 2013.

Current status: No

Official start date. Taurani says that the film will start “sometime next year”.

Atul Agnihotri

(O Teri)

Makers: Umesh Bhisht (director), Atul Agnihotri (producer)

Story so far: Since last year, reports were doing the rounds that Salman will do a cameo (a few scenes and a song) in filmmaker and brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s next. Atul and Salman have earlier teamed up for the former’s home production, Bodyguard (2011).

Current status: Salman has apparently agreed to shoot next month. “He is busy, but we will manage with whatever time we get from him,” says Agnihotri.

Sooraj Barjatya

(Bade Bhaiyya)

Maker: Barjatya (director-producer)

Story so far: Barjatya worked with Salman in hits like Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989) and Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994). The family drama, with Salman as Prem, was meant to start early this year.

Current status: No

Official start date yet. Trade says the shoot will start in June 2014, and it will release during Diwali 2015.

Boney Kapoor

(No Entry Mein Entry)

Makers: Anees Bazmee (director); Kapoor (producer)

Story so far: The sequel to No Entry (2005) has been in the news for over a year. There has been conjecture over the shoot dates from the beginning (the latest one is June). Reports even suggested Salman will work on it alongside Kick.

Current status: There’s no start date yet. Kapoor apparently let go of his dates to allow Barjatya to make his film with Salman after receiving an SMS from the actor.
