Salman vs Shah Rukh: Khans to fight it out on Eid 2016

Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, despite their new-found friendship, are gearing up for a battle to end all battles. Two films of the superstars -- Salman's Sultan and SRK's Raaes -- are going to release in Eid in 2016, something that has never happened before.
Salman Khan’s association with Eid is well established. After Wanted (2009), most of his films have released around the festival. Even this year, his next, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, will hit the screens on Eid. But next year, it won't be just Salman Khan's Eid: SRK-starrer Raees is also slated to hit theatres on Eid 2016.
On June 24, the teaser of Salman’s
(that will be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar) was released, which will also be an Eid release in 2016. But Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raaes, which is a Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar production, is also slated to release on the same date.
"The new development has taken everyone by surprise, especially since Raees was already announced (around March this year), as the Eid release," says an insider.
Trade experts feel that one of the films should move, otherwise the business of both the movies will get affected. "There’s a remote chance that the two movies will clash. Even Salman and Shah Rukh won’t like that. It would be interesting to see if anyone — or who — blinks first," adds the insider.
While the makers of Sultan couldn’t be reached for a comment, Ritesh says that they won’t move their release date. "Most of the principal photography of our film is complete, and we have only 20 days left, which will be done in October. We were always scheduled to release on Eid 2016, and that’s when
will release," he says.
