Ishaqzaade actor Arjun Kapoor has been in the headlines lately for a strange reason —Salman Khan has reportedly refused to promote him through his Twitter account. But Arjun isn’t amused with such speculation.
“Ishaqzaade is a Yash Raj film. Salmanbhai doesn’t have to promote me. It’s (Yash Raj) a very big company with a reasonable amount of people already knowing about the film whether Salmanbhai tweets about it or not. And it’s something he doesn’t need to do for me,” he insists.
The actor, the son of producer Boney Kapoor, feels that the issue has been misconstrued by the media. “The media is saying he (Salman) doesn’t want to (promote me on Twitter), but he wasn’t asked to do it. And no mediaperson would dare ask him about it.
So they are just making assumptions since he has tweeted about other people in the past,” he says. “My producer Aditya Chopra doesn’t believe in that (Twitter).” Arjun, who debuts with Parineeti Chopra in Ishaqzaade, says that promotions don’t matter anyway.
“No matter how much I talk about it (his equation with Salman), people aren’t going to watch the film simply because Salman Khan ne isko patla kiya hai. The movie will work on its own,” says the newbie. He also puts an end to rumours that his father asked Salman to tweet about him, but Salman refused.
“Eventually, your work will speak. Whatever you do will survive, everything else is external. But I will tell you something: Salmanbhai saw the trailer. I showed him that. And he is someone who knows that I have made it on my own. He holds me in a certain regard and I have very high regards for him.” ‘All his friends call him Arjun chachu’
