Almost three decades after the Amitabh Bachchan's endearing comedy

Satte Pe Satta

wowed masses, there is now talk of a remake of the film, casting Sanjay Dutt in the lead this time.

The comedy which is about seven rather uncivilized brothers living in a bachelor pad, has been named

Satte Pe Satta Phir

(rather innovative, we must say). And guess who's directing the films - Soham Shah, doesn't ring a bell? Well, he has directed films like

Lucky

and

Kaal

in the past.

"This is one film that many producers wanted to remake. Raj Sippy who directed the original also wanted to remake the film and had titled it Seven. He had also spoken to Sanjay Dutt about playing the lead role in his remake. Similarly, Sohail Khan also wanted to remake the film with Salman playing the lead, though he dropped the idea later," a source told

Mumbai Mirror

.

Sanjay Dutt

The film will be produced by Shri Ashtavinayak productions. "

Satte Pe Satta

is a cult film. The script of the film is so interesting that it has stood the test of time." Dhillin Mehta, Chairman and Managing Director of Shri Astavinayak told the tabloid. "We were wondering how to go about it and Sanjay Dutt helped us get the rights," he added.

Who will be filling Hema Malini's shoes in the remake is not yet confirmed though.

Interestingly, the 1982 Amitabh Bachchan hit too, was an adaptation of a 1954 Hollywood musical film

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

starring Howard Keel and Jane Powell.

Well, considering

Satte Pe Satta

is just as entertaining today and has the ability to keep you glued to the screen even now, the remake better have something new to offer.
