Actor Sanya Malhotra, who played Aamir Khan’s on-screen daughter in Dangal (2016), is still taking some time before she signs her next film. While her co-star Fatima Sana Shaikh has already bagged another film, Thugs of Hindostan, opposite Aamir, Sanya seems to be taking one step at a time.

Asked if working with Aamir has set the benchmark high for her, Sanya says, “Other people may think so, but not for me. Dangal is really special to me and a very different film. I am sure in the future, I will do something very different and perform even better, so that it becomes a benchmark for me.” The actor considers herself lucky that in her debut film she got to portray a character that enabled her to prove her mettle as a performer. “We are not just acting in the film but wrestling also, so I got to play an overall package. I am sure, if I could do that I can do anything,” she adds.

Sanya believes that she would never restrict herself to a particular genre and is open to newer things. “I would like to work in different kinds of films, play different types of characters, and explore every bit of it. Any genre is good, as long as I have not tried it before. But romancing on screen, I feel, would be challenging for me as I am not so romantic in [real] life.”

And which actor would she want to romance on screen? “Well, as for a leading male actor, kitne ache ache stars hain (there are so many good stars out there). It would be unfair to choose one. I absolutely love Ranbir Kapoor as an actor and Shahid Kapoor is equally good and wonderful.”
