It was long, ugly and public. But like most Bollywood fights, the one between superstars Shah Rukh and Salman Khan too seems to finally have come to an end. On Monday evening (November 13), at the premiere of late Yash Chopra’s last directorial film, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, at the Yash Raj Studios, Shah Rukh apparently went out his way to welcome Salman. The latter made a late entry, avoiding the media, coming in only after the screening was underway.
An industry insider who was present at the event, says, “We were all were surprised to see Shah Rukh himself coming out with Katrina (Kaif, SRK’s co-star in the film) to welcome Salman. They greeted and hugged each other, and SRK escorted him in.”
Given the duration and intensity of their spat, the hushed conversations — as Salman walked in, and then, as the two acted more than cordial — was understandable. “The two of them were the centre of all attention. They were seen having long, animated chats during the break. They detached themselves from the rest of the crowd and took a seat in a corner. It looked like there never was any problem between them,” says the source.
Apparently, it was Katrina Kaif who was instrumental in bringing the two together. “She, however, didn’t interrupt them during their meeting,” says the insider. Salman even stayed for the after-party, and reportedly danced with Shah Rukh, Aamir Khan and the Bachchans. Later, SRK even tweeted saying, “...Had a lovely time dancing partying with all...Amit uncle, Salman, Aamir (sic).”
How the Khan vs Khan fight started
The infamous Khan fight started at Katrina Kaif's birthday bash in 2008.
Back in 2008, reportedly, a slightly inebriated Salman Khan offended Shah Rukh Khan when he and wife Gauri Khan came for Katrina Kaif’s birthday bash. Salman was apparently upset with SRK for turning down a guest role in Salman’s production, Mr And Mrs Khanna (2009). On being taunted by Salman, SRK retaliated by taking a dig at Salman’s past relationship with Aishwarya Rai. It got ugly as the two stars were apparently prepared to fight it out. Literally.
Bollywood at premiere
The first ones to arrive were Pam Chopra with son Uday. Shortly, they were joined by the cast - Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu, and Prem Chopra and his wife, were also among the earliest guests. Bachchan parivaar- Amitabh, Jaya, Abhishek and Aishwarya- was present in full attendance. Hrithik Roshan, Susanne Roshan, Gauri Khan, Karan Johar, Farah Khan, Kajol, Sridevi, Boney Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, Kiran Rao graced the event.
