Post Mausam’s tepid performance at the box-office, Shahid Kapoor has been lying low, and not taking on new movies. But for the past one month, he has been in talks with Tanu Weds Manu director Aanand Rai for his new film, Raanjhana.
"I wanted an actor with a boyish charm, and Shahid carries that really well. I am working towards roping him in," says Rai.
Working on the final draft of Raanjhana, as well as Tanu Weds Manu 2 (TWM 2), the director admits he has been in talks with the male star since October. "If Shahid agrees to do the film, I will accordingly choose the female lead opposite him. So, nothing is finalised yet," says Rai.
What about talks of Shahid not being keen on Kangana Ranaut working opposite him in Raanjhana? "Both TWM 2 and Raanjhana are completely different projects. So, why would Shahid say no to Kangana? It’s not true. She is not even being considered for Raanjhana," adds Rai.
With the sequel to his Kangana Ranaut- R. Madhavan starrer, which raked in the moolah at the box-office earlier this year, Rai reveals he’s retaining his lead actors. "I plan to shoot both the films next year," says Rai, adding that Tanu Weds Manu 2 will be an extension of the original film.
"Like the first part, I will keep the characters and setting real and sensitive. It won’t be the simple story of a couple After Marriage. Tanu Weds Manu 2 also moves to London, but it will retain its charm and Indian feel," adds the filmmaker.
