Bollywood singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan reportedly suffered a heart attack on Sunday and is now recuperating in a Delhi hospital. The 48-year-old musician was rushed to the hospital after he complained of chest pain.
While the music director’s family and friends refused to divulge more details, sections of media reported that Mahadevan suffered two back-to-back heart attacks. Mahadevan took to Twitter to announce that he is recovering now.
His son Siddharth told media, “It was mainly due to exhaustion. Dad underwent angioplasty on the first day itself when he was hospitalised. Thankfully, there weren’t any major blockages. He is recuperating well and the doctors said he would be discharged within a day or two.”
Confirming the news his spokesperson also said, “Yes he has been admitted to Delhi hospital, he was feeling uneasy and the doctor advised him for an ECG (electrocardiogram) checkup and then asked him to get hospitalised for a couple of days, but he is perfectly fine, and will be back in Mumbai soon. We request to respect the privacy”.
The composer’s performances in Rajkot and Mumbai were cancelled due to his health. The National Award-winning singer has lent his voice to both Tamil and Bollywood heroes. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio has composed music for blockbuster Bollywood films.
