Shekhar Suman's debut directorial, Heartless, may not have generated much buzz. But you have to give it to him for his faith in the film.

Claiming that it will make a social impact, he's written to none other than President Pranab Mukherjee to make the release tax-free.

"I have written a letter to the President of India... four days ago and am waiting for a reply...," says Shekhar, adding, "My film shows how a mother can to go any extent to protect her child... Films that have a social impact deserve to be tax-free so that more people can watch them."

Earlier, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was granted tax sops, but by state governments in Delhi and Maharashtra.

Now it remains for the President to decide on this odd request.
