Actor Shilpa Shukla will be seen portraying a politician who is also a part-time film producer in the Indo-British producer Michael Ward’s next, Bombairiya.

And she liked her role from the word go.

"When director Pia Sukany narrated the role to me, I was immediately hooked on to it. My character is that of a politician who is mixed up with the world of cinema," says the Chak De! India actor.

She has a special role in the film and her character will have shades of grey. "It is a multi-layered character with shades of grey. What I loved the most about the character is that like most of us in Mumbai, there is more to her than meets the eye," says the BA Pass actor.

Meanwhile Director Pia is thrilled to have Shilpa on board. "Shilpa has a great sense of relatability but at the same time there is something in her presence that is intimidating. I wanted that intimidation to come out as well as her vulnerability. She has a sense of self–awareness that will empower the character," says Pia.
