Reporting from Singapore, Neha Sharma gives you the lowdown on how the popular award function weekend came to a close
Ferrari Ki Sawaari team goes for a ride!
The Ferrari Ki Sawaari team got to drive the car at the F1 pit on Saturday morning. While actor Boman Irani finished his lap in 48 seconds, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra needed only 32.
“Aise hi toh chalaate hain Ferrai (This is how a Ferrari should be driven),” he said.
Sharman Joshi didn’t get to drive (we were told he doesn’t have the required license), but he still got the winner’s trophy.
“I can’t believe this. This is unfair,” Irani said in a mock-angry way.
Get in line, Farhan!
In the daytime, Farhan Akhtar visited the Singapore Flyer. According to fans present there, he came expecting preferential treatment, but was asked to stand in queue with everyone else. This apparently didn’t go down well with the filmmaker, and he immediately left.
PC, a glutton!
At a press conference for Teri Meri Kahaani, Shahid Kapoor gushed about his co-star.
“I eat light, I’m vegetarian and a teetotaller. But I’ve never seen someone eat as much as Priyanka (Chopra) and look this way,” he said. “She is accident prone too. Whenever I am around her, she gets injured or falls.”
Osborne’s India love
Kamal Haasan announced that he will be collaborating with Lord Of The Rings producer Barrie Osborne for an international project.
Osborne said, “Kamal came to Hollywood for some work on Vishwaroop, and I was very impressed with what I saw. I couldn’t resist working with him.”
The producer claims he’s been looking to work with Indian directors for very long now, but the story was always the biggest factor.
“I was inspired by Kamal’s concept and I thought it was worth pursuing. There is a possibility that we may be doing some work (on the film) in India.”
Audience in trauma!
At the IIFA music workshop, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, lyricist Prasoon Joshi and composers Vishal-Shekhar worked in one team to compose a song, and filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, composer Shantanu Moitra and lyricist Javed Akhtar worked on another. The audience was asked to suggest themes for the song and the suggestions ranged from prenatal depression to a young bride finding out that her husband is gay.
“Can I hide behind the sofa?” Mehra asked. “I think I am facing a very traumatised audience.
Mapuskar blows up Chopra’s money
Ferrari Ki Sawaari director Rajesh Mapuskar shared how Vidhu Vinod Chopra trusted him with the film: “He was like ‘Tu kya karega? Mere kitne paise barbaad karega? 15? 20? 25 crore? Kar de. Main agli film mein bana lunga. (How much money of mine will you waste? 25 crore? Go ahead. I will recover it with my next film.’)”.
Chopra then interrupted and said, “Tell them my exact words.” After a pause, Mapuskar said, “He said, ‘Mere 15-20 crore ki g***d maarega na? Maar de. Bindaas!”
