From Hrithik Roshan as the lead actor to Kangana having been ousted from the film due to her ‘secret relationship’ with the Krrish star, rumours mills are working round the clock for Mohit Suri’s directorial venture Aashiqui 3.

Earlier, reports claimed that Alia Bhatt has been roped in to play the lead opposite Hrithik Roshan in the sequel to the 2013 film Aashiqui 2 that gave Aditya Roy Kapur his stardom. Rumours now suggest that alleged lovebirds Alia and Sidharth Malhotra will paly the leads in the film.

A Mumbai Mirror report quoted filmmaker and Alia’s dad Mahesh Bhatt as saying that the Highway star had been approached for Aashiqui 3. Though he did not confirm whether Alia has agreed to do the film or not.

The tabloid also quoted Sidharth as saying, “Scripting is in progress but it should be up and running next year. Aashiqui 2 had lots of love, angst and music. I’m looking forward to more.”

The Kapoor and Sons star may also sing for the sequel to the 1990 musical. “Mohit wants me to sing one song. Learning to play the guitar is a prerequisite. This kind of prep is a given today. I have to get rhythm in my voice and fingers,” the actor further told the Mumbai tabloid.

He also told the tabloid that he is aiming to create history: I hope to match up to her talent, and maybe we could sing a duet. That would be a first for an actor and actress who’ve debuted together,” Sidharth said.

Alia is currently shooting with Shah Rukh Khan for Gauri Shinde’s untitled film, while Sidharth is working on Nitya Mehra’s Baar Baar Dekho opposite Katrina Kaif.

Hindustan Times could not independently verify the reports.
