Ever since Karan Johar launched Sidharth Malhotra in Student Of The Year (2012), talks about him being favoured by the film-maker have been doing the rounds. But Sidharth is unperturbed.
“What is wrong with that? Karan’s production company is one of the biggest right now. Also, people forget that we (him, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan), as talents, belong to his company. We were launched so that we could do films with the company,” says the 30-year-old.
The actor feels “extremely happy and lucky” that he got a chance to work with Karan’s firm. “They are offering us great content. If there’s content outside [the production house], we aren’t bound. At the same time, if we get good content within the company, we are happy and content working here. I’m not complaining,” he says.
On another note, since he doesn’t belong to a film background, ask him if he ever feels that things are different for star kids, and he says, “It’s tough to say. By now, I have spent enough time [in the industry].
"Initially, maybe [one would feel the difference]. Now, I am just envious of people who stay with their family — and not a film family — in general. I am extremely lucky that I have people like Karan guiding me. He has given me this career. He is the reason I am here,” says the actor, who is currently shooting for his next film with Katrina Kaif in London, UK.
