Director AR Murugadoss' next Hindi film will have a father and daughter playing prime parts. The yet untitled movie, produced by Fox Star, will feature Sonakshi Sinha and Shatrugan Sinha.
Gangs of Wasseypur helmer Anurag Kashyapwil also be seen as a baddie in Murugadoss' latest outing.
Murugadoss began with Tamil cinema, his debut being Dheena, a mishmash of many genres that had star Ajith essaying all that audiences love about him -- violence, romance and so on. Dheena jingled the boxoffice, and the director knew he had arrived. Soon he roped in Surya to play Ghajini, a psychological thriller, whose Hindi version with big-time Aamir Khan just catapulted Murugadoss into a territory which he himself may not have anticipated then.
Encouraged by Ghajini, Murugadoss, who was born in a small town in Tamil Nadu, ventured into Hindi remakes. His Vijay-starrer, Thuppaki, garnered Rs 100 crores in just 12 days and was remade in Hindi as Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty with Akshay Kumar - another entrant to the Rs 100-club.
Murugadoss' cinema has been these huge canvasses largely appealing to the mundane masses whose idea of entertainment is often mindless violence peppered with an apology for romance. And women have been mere mantle-pieces. Does anyone remember Sonakshi Sinha in Holiday? That poor girl was shooed away by the hero every time she dared to come into the frame.
Samantha did not fare any better in Kaththi -- where Vijay made sure that he was the star of the movie and had the maximum screen time. Murugadoss' ready-to-roll venture will probably be no different with Miss Sinha perhaps playing the willing glam-doll.
