There's a scene in Khoobsurat trailer where after meeting Fawad Khan, who plays a prince in the film, Sonam Kapoor's Mili says, "Tumhe dekh ke bilkul nahi lagta kit um prince ho." We can say that right back to Sonam who is known for her fashionista credentials, "You don't look like Sonam Kapoor at all in the film."
We see her in all the rainbow colours, mismatched prints and at one point of time, believe it or faint, yellow socks with big smileys. The good news is that Sonam carries it off. As the clumsy, always-smiling Bengali physiotherapist who takes after her Punjabi mother (once again essayed to perfection by Kirron Kher, but then she has done it about a million times), she is effervescent and fun. Ratna Pathak Shah is the very propah matriarch of a royal family (Dina Pathak in the original Khoobsurat) who is understandably appalled by the entry of Sonam in her household. We will see them going head-to-head in the film. Going by what we see in the trailer, this royal battle will be fought with the song, Engine ki seeti se mharo bum dole, in the background. And what about the chemistry between Pakistani actor Fawad and Sonam in the film? We saw but a few flickers, hopefully the film will offer us so much more. Meanwhile, accolades started coming in for the actor from her Bollywood colleagues after she tweeted two posters of the film earlier on Monday. While Farah Khan called it a "different type of Khoobsurat", Jacqueline Fernandes says she was being her "cute self".
Cousin Arjun Kapoor said "you've done it with the look." Alia Bhatt also complimented the actor.
