First, a disclaimer. We hope Bollywood's got a sense of humour they don't ditch very easily.
Now, the anouncement: Sonam Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan have topped Hindustan Times' readers' list of 2014's worst actors!
In February this year, we asked our readers to tell us who they think were Bollywood's worst in 2014, just after the nominations for the annual Golden Kela awards were announced. With more than 2,500 votes, we now have the winners: Sonam is voted winner for "everything she did last year" and Saif for Humshakals (but obviously).
With a string of flops like Khoobsurat (a bad remake of the 1980 Rekha-starrer by the same name) and Dolly Ki Doli to her credit last year, 36% of our readers thought she deserved this dubious honour. It was worse for Saif: 50.7% of HT readers thought he was the worst hero of last year.
Sonam was closely followed by Sonakshi -- who was part of some of 2014's highest money churners including Holiday, Lingaa and Action Jackson -- with 33% of our readers rooting for her. Her character in all these movies was limited to being a prop in the frames. Katrina Kaif took the third spot, with 11.9% votes, for starring with Hrithik Roshan in Bang Bang. Tamannah Bhatia came a close fourth for her role in the Akshay Kumar-starrer Entertainment, with 15% votes, followed by Jacqueline Fernandes, who played Salman Khan's love interest in Kick (she could take solace in the fact that only 3% of our readers voted for her).
Among heroes, Shah Rukh Khan got the second spot, with 18% votes. He was nominated for the Deepika Padukone-starrer Happy New Year. King Khan was followed by Ajay Devgn (11% ) and Arjun Kapoor (9%) for 'Gunday and everything else'.
The Golden Kela Awards had also nominated Rani Mukerjee in the worst actor (male) category and she received a mere 2.65% votes.
