Sonam Kapoor’s coming-of-age film Neerja seems all set to be Bollywood’s first big hit of the year. Directed by Ram Madhvani, the film maintained the impressive flight path it started with on the opening day over the weekend as well, collecting Rs 22 crore in three days since its release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the collection.

Based on the life of model-turned-air hostess Neerja Bhanot, the film chronicles the events that unfolded inside Pan Am Flight 73 on September 5,1986. Neerja, first time Chief Purser, fought with four Palestinian hijackers to save the lives of 360 passengers on board.
