Sonu Sood has just finished shooting an entire action sequence amid real crowd at the city’s Goregaon station for his next cop-film Maximum. The makers didn’t want to shoot the train scene on a set, so they hired a local from the Western Railways and shot the elaborate sequence at an actual station.

“Train scenes are tough to shoot. Even when I read the script, I remember thinking, ‘will the director be able to pull that off?’ We shot on the tracks used by the mail train at Goregaon station. And for about 10 to 12 days, every day, a huge crowd would gather on the platforms to watch the shoot,” says Sonu, adding, “The film is set in a time when the underworld was active.”

Directed by Kabir Kaushik, Maximum revolves around two encounter cops and their struggle for power. Sonu plays the role of the young officer, while veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has essayed the part of the older, more experienced specialist.

The film also stars Neha Dhupia in a pivotal role.

“Naseer saab is amazing. It’s an experience of a lifetime to work with him,” says Sonu.

Meanwhile, the actor is busy with his debut production Lucky Unlucky, which he is co-producing with his friend Ajay Dhama.

The film is an out-and-out comedy. Ask him how it is to swing between two such diverse genres, and he laughs, “They are complete opposites, so it’s fun.” Lucky Unlucky is set to go on the floors in December.
