Actor Sonu Sood was expected to be part of Dabangg 2 when the film was initially announced. But soon after, the makers roped in veteran Prakash Raj to play the part of the villain, which Sonu as Chhedilal had played in the first film.

Following this move, it was reported that the young actor felt sidelined by Raj’s presence and eventually opted out of the sequel. The latest rumour is that Sonu was apparently to do a cameo in Dabangg 2, but Salman did not want that.

However, a cursory glance at Sonu’s character in his forthcoming film, Maximum, reveals that this could well be his way of telling all that he can do it too.

Sonu, who not only plays the role of a fearless cop in Kabeer Kaushik’s film, also sports a look that is close to Salman’s from Dabangg, as the character has a moustache.

Sonu was unavailable for comment, but Kabeer confirmed that Sonu was playing a supercop in the movie. He however denied that Sonu’s look in the film was a dig at Salman.

“The cop’s moustache look was decided at the time of inception of the film itself. It goes with his character and there is nothing controversial about it,” says the filmmaker.

Sonu plays the role of encounter cop Pratap Pandit in the film, which is Kabeer’s second cop movie after the Arshad Warsi starrer Sehar (2005). The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Atul Kulkarni.
