While Delhiites are opting for easy fabrics to beat the sultry weather, some Bollywood actors refuse to step out without fat jackets and blazers.
In the past few months, even as the mercury soared high, celebs such as Ranbir Kapoor, John Abraham and Aditya Roy Kapur were seen sporting thick layers during various promotional events in the Capital.
“Sometimes these stars tend to ape the western culture. My advice to them would be, let’s not become jokers in the name of trend. Summers are for sporting funky V-neck tees, caps, spikes and flaunting the underwear. Thick jackets are definitely a big no,” says designer Rina Dhaka.
Actor Siddharth Malhotra, who wore a black leather jacket to a recent Delhi event, agreed that leather was not the right choice for the season, but defended himself by saying that he needed to wear it for brand promotions.
But since whatever celebs wear gets noticed, designer Anjana Bhargav feels they must dress right. “If stars are making an appearance without the pressure of a promotional activity, then they need to dress in tune with the weather, the current trend and the colours and fabrics that suit their personal style,” Bhargav says.
Stylist Rishi Raj, however, blames it on the stars’ personal stylists. “Given their crazy schedules and frequent travelling, the celebs often become dependent on their stylists to take decisions for them, which sometimes results in fashion faux pas.”
