Ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has apparently roped in street painters to make hand-painted posters and pictures of the cast of his upcoming film, Rowdy Rathore. It’s heard that he has roped in three award-winning painters, who normally prefer to exhibit their works on the streets of Mumbai.
"Bhansali once chanced upon their work in an exhibition and was bowled over by their talent. He immediately appointed them for the creative campaign of Rowdy Rathore," says a source close to Bhansali.
As co-producer of the film with UTV Motion Pictures, Bhansali wants the look and feel of the ’80s in his posters, says the source, adding, "He is so inspired by the sensibilities of the posters of that era that he wants to bring back that style of poster making with this film."
Directed by south Indian dancing icon, Prabhu Deva, Rowdy Rathore pairs Akshay Kumar, who plays the protagonist, with Sonakshi Sinha. Akshay, who joined the industry as an action hero before recently being acknowledged for a spate of hit comedies, is likely to reclaim the tag he was first associated with.
The source reveals that live paintings of the lead star casts are also been planned. "They are looking for time slots when Akshay and Sonakshi can sit with the painters," says the source, adding, "It will be a action-packed poster."
An exhibition of all the paintings based on the film may also be organised in the city during the promotion of the film, which is set to hit theatres on June 15, 2012.
