Any actor would go all out to work with Yash Raj Films. But model Sunny Gill, who was reportedly to make his film debut under YRF’s youth cell Y-Films, chose an independent film titled Jo Hum Chahein as his first venture.

Apparently, Sunny was among the set of newcomers that Y Films was planning to launch. “Yes, Sunny was supposed to make his debut with a Y Films venture,” says a team member involved with Jo Hum Chahein. Says Sunny, “There were quite a few production houses that approached me initially, but I really liked the script of Jo Hum Chahein and I instantly connected with it.”

For the uninitiated, Y Films is a subsidiary of Yash Raj Films. It’s focus lies on introducing fresh talent in the film industry. In the past, Sunny has shot an ad with Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni for a men’s hair product. He also got compliments from Amitabh Bachchan at the IIFA fashion show in 2006. After the event, Big B had told Sunny that he enjoyed the show. “He thought I was great on the ramp, and told me to keep it up,” Sunny had then said.

Sunny will be seen acting opposite former Miss India-Universe Simran Mundi in the film, which will be directed by Pawan Gill. Buzz is that the film is a modern coming-of-age romance that reflects the current urban landscape of contemporary India while focusing on the aspirations of the youth and what they do to achieve their desires.
