John Abraham is surely getting on the list of Angry Young Man through his role in Shootout At Wadala.
Canadian adult star turned Bollywood actor Sunny Leone is glad that her debut item number, Laila Teri Le Legi (changed to Lloot Legi after censor objection), is topping charts.
During a visit to Hindustan Times house on Monday with her Shootout at Wadala co-stars John Abraham, Anil Kapoor and Tusshar Kapoor, she said, “I’m really fortunate to get to work with such great actors and I’m glad it (the item song) has done well.”
On realising that her item song has even beaten actor Priyanka Chopra’s item gig Babli Badmaash from the same film, Leone said, “Thank God! She (Priyanka) has been around for so long and she is way beyond what I’ve done here.” Leone is not just in the movie for one song but also has a role alongside actor Manoj Bajpayee, revealed John.
The cast is pepped up about their film, a sequel to the 2007 film, Shootout at Lokhandwala, based on the life of gangster Manya Surve and his death in an encounter with the police.
Talking about recreating the look and magic of that late 1970s and early 1980s Bombay, Anil said, “It’s not difficult, as there are a lot of streets in Mumbai which still look like they’re from that period.”
Tusshar, who plays Manya Surve’s accomplice in the movie, revealed how nervous Sunny Leone would get, before her takes. “She entered the set and everybody stood awestruck. And she says she was nervous! She was totally terrific,” he said.
John pointed out that the movie, thought to be a pure gangster action-thriller, also has an underplayed romantic angle to it — that of John Abraham and Kanagana Ranaut’s characters. “This is a gangster film with the most tragic love story and it’s something you’d actually break down seeing, because it is so beautiful.”
