After the success of his thriller Hate Story this year, producer Vikram Bhatt is making a sequel to the film. But unlike some reports that suggest Paoli Dam, who stars in the first part, would be retained for the lead role, Bhatt reveals, “We have signed on Surveen Chawla. The film will be directed by Vishal Pandya and Sushant Singh will be the antagonist.” Bhatt also explains that he couldn’t work with Vivek Agnihotri, the director of the first part, as he’s currently busy with his film Freedom.
While Hate Story was high on adult content and nudity, Bhatt wants to change the nature of the sequel. “This time the film will not be about sex. It’s about a woman’s mind, which I think is more dangerous than her body.”
Talking about the target audience for Hate Story 2, Bhatt adds, “Hate Story was perhaps too bold in its treatment as the story was about a woman, who uses her body for revenge. Though the title was Hate Story, the focus was more on sex, which overpowered everything else.
It appealed to a certain section of audience but this time I want everyone to enjoy the film. Though there’ll be sexuality in this one too, it won’t overpower the film.”
Surveen started her career with TV serials like Kahin To Hoga, Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kaajjal and then moved on to doing some Punjabi films.
