The first trailer of director Dibakar Banerjee's Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, starring Sushant Singh Rajput, is out. The two-and-a-half minute-long trailer only adds to the suspense around the film, set in pre-independence era.

The film looks very much in line with a typical English detective movie: the hero seems to know exactly what has happened, even if everyone else thinks otherwise. With lots of blood and violence in the trailer, it still looks promising and intriguing.

Talking about the movie and its comparisons with Sherlock Holmes, Dibakar had earlier told HT, "My film is an answer to Sherlock Holmes, and is not based on him. It is an original and is a desi jawab (answer) to Sherlock Holmes in desi language. Byomkesh Bakshi remains the first and the most famous detective in India, and this is the first time that he will be seen on the big screen. All the aspects of the film are original and Indian."
