Sometimes our Bollywood actors as well as other celebs may become the subject of mistaken identities. While some are from the same field, others have nothing in common, but their names. Thus, filmmaker Farah Khan’s messages often get tweeted to celebrity jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali. Here’s taking a look at other such examples.
Ali Fazal - Ali Zafar
There are many who get confused between Bollywood actor Ali Fazal (right) and Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar (far right). The situation reached its peak when Fazal, who was recently seen in Bobby Jasoos, was invited to sing for a special Eid function in Lucknow. "I’ve been getting calls for Ali Zafar and it’s funny. They wanted me to sing at an event. I said my events take place in my bathroom...I am not Ali Zafar… But the guy was quite the fighter. He thought I was dodging him," says Fazal.
Anurag Basu - Anurag Kashyap
Despite the versatility of the films which they helm, filmmakers Anurag Basu (far left) and Anurag Kashyap (left) have often been mistaken for each other. "A few years back, I was giving interviews for Kites when someone thought I was the Dev D director. He started asking me questions about the film and I was non-plussed. I had no clue. So, I called up Anurag and asked him for a few details about Dev D and gave the interview," says Basu, who is known for films like Barfi, while Kashyap has made Gangs of Wasseypur I and II.
Farah Khan - Farah Khan Ali
Jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali (right) has often been confused with filmmaker Farah Khan (above). The former said that she even changed her name post her marriage to avoid this. "She gets jewellery enquires for me and I get her dance enquires and models sending me their pictures," she says.
Poonam Pandey - Poonam Pandey
Many might not be aware, but there is actually more than one Poonam Pandey in the film industry. Apart from the raunchy actor (left) who is often the centre of controversies, there is another Poonam Pandey (above) who is fairly new in the industry. At an event related to the film, a senior reporter asked her, "When is Miss Pandey coming?" She politely replied, "I am Poonam Pandey".
Sushant Singh - Sushant Singh Rajput
You might think that being a part of different mediums will rid these actors from this confusion, but TV star Sushant Singh (far right) has often been confused with Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput (right). "Websites used to tweet news about Sushant Singh Rajput and tag me. Once a fan sent me a very angry tweet about returning his money, as he didn’t like a film starring Sushant Singh Rajput. There have been letters addressed to him which have been delivered at my doorstep," he says.
Sidharth Malhotra - Siddharth
There has been a lot of confusion between Bollywood actor Siddharth Malhotra (left) and southern star Siddharth (far left), who appeared in Rang De Basanti. In fact, when people were congratulating him for Ek Villain on Twitter, Siddharth decided to play along. "Received so many bouquets and compliments on behalf of @S1dharthM that I feel responsible for the success of #ekvillain...thanks other Sid (sic)," posted Siddharth, who has featured in a few Hindi films.
