The Fakir Of Venice, not Rock On, was supposed to be Farhan Akhtar’s debut film
Farhan Akhtar’s The Fakir Of Venice was supposed to release before Rock On in 2008, but it got delayed. The film is now ready to hit the screens, nine years after his debut in Bollywood.
Farhan Akhtar debuted in Bollywood with 2008 film Rock On, but it wasn’t supposed to be his first film. The Fakir Of Venice, which is finally going to hit the screens after nine years, was meant to be his acting debut.
According to a report in DNA, a source close to the team of Fakir Of Venice says, “An offbeat film, it would also mark the debut of director Anand Surapur, had it released then. However, with no definite plan for it, especially in India, it languished in obscurity for years. Rock On!! came and went.”
“It is now being revived and a release date is planned (March 10),” adds the source.
Directed by Anand Surapur, the first look of The Fakir Of Venice has been doing rounds on social media. However, there is no official confirmation yet. The film, which also has Annu Kapoor, is about two conmen who are hired to find a poor guy from India for an art project in Venice.
If it releases on March 10 then it will have to clash with Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt’s Badrinath Ki Dulhania which is releasing on the same day.
