The IIFA awards this year, were all about young Bollywood stars enthralling the audience of thousands at The Singapore Indoor Stadium, with their energetic performances.
While actor Sonakshi Sinha entered the stage in a jeep, wearing a cop’s uniform and danced to the songs Hud Hud Dabangg, Munni Badnaam and Mast Mast Nain, Bipasha Basu grooved to Anarkali Disco Chali, Ooh La La (Vidya Balan sang along) and Chikni Chameli.
Priyanka grooved to In Aankhon Ki Masti Mein, Salaam-E-Ishq and Pardesiya as part of her tribute to veteran actor Rekha. When PC asked all to stand up to give their respect to Rekha, film personalities stood up while rest of the audience remained seated.
Actor Rishi Kapoor and son Ranbir danced to Rishi’s song, Om Shanti Om, wearing silver jackets that had the name Monty (Rishi’s character in Karz) written on the back.
Actor Shahid Kapoor performed to a medley of songs choreographed by Prabhu Deva. He was later joined by his Teri Meri Kahaani co-star Priyanka on the stage, and they danced to the song, Humse Pyaar Kar Lo, from the film.
During a segment, Shahid, also the host, took various actors by surprise with his Vicky Donor act. Carrying small bottles and a jar on a tray, he and the film’s actor Ayushmann Khurrana, asked some film personalities to “donate”.
Also surprising was when singer Shreya Ghoshal went on stage to accept her award for best playback singer (female). Reason: While she won the award for the song, Teri Meri (Bodyguard), the song Ooh La La (also sung by her for The Dirty Picture) was played by mistake.
