Actor Gulshan Grover has been part of the film industry for over three decades and long enough to tell what makes an actor a star.
“Performances make temporary difference in the life of a superstar. It is about how the person is in real life. A performance is a result of the team. An actor can be good in one film and average in the other. What counts is your behaviour with fellow actors and seniors,” says Grover.
With the arrival of social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram, the gap between actors and their fans has reduced. Even though, the ‘badman’ of Bollywood uses this medium to promote his work, he avoids going overboard. “There is so much you want to know about a star’s life. I am conservative in my thinking, I don’t want to put everything for public consumption. Some people think it is okay and I respect that but I’m not going to use social media to put up my personal life for everyone to see,” says the actor.
The veteran actor is aware of the pros and cons of social media. “There are many fights going on in the industry because of social media. There are times when you cannot unquote on social media. It needs to be used wisely but it is a very important part of our lives and I embrace it,” he says.
