The trailer did not connect: Milan Luthria

Director Milan Luthria’s next, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara is scheduled to release on August 15 and like any other filmmaker, he obviously wants it to be a bigger hit than its predecessor. Though the film has been in the news and has created a fair amount of buzz since its announcement, the response to the first trailer did not quite excite the director.

“I have had sleepless nights for three weeks because the trailer did not really connect with the audience,” says Milan. He adds, “The first trailer of the Vidya Balan-starrer The Dirty Picture (2011) garnered a very strong response. I desired the same result with this film as well. But that didn’t happen.”

The director also mentions that sometimes the filmmaker’s idea doesn’t click with the audience and that is when new ways must be devised to connect with them. Milan has now launched another trailer of the film. “It is a difficult job to connect with audiences instantly. For this film, it happened with the second trailer. The hero versus villain angle worked. This angle also describes the story of the film and thus we can expect great results once the film releases,” says Milan.
