Over the past few years, Shraddha Kapoor has proven her merit at the box office as a bankable actor. Shraddha says she is living her dream. With an interesting line-up of films ahead, there’s little the actor has to worry about.
But Shraddha admits that before a release, she always feels a sense of nervousness. “There is fear all the time. Before a film’s release, there is apprehension and nervousness, but there is also excitement, because finally, people are going to see our efforts on the big screen. We work in difficult situations, and it takes months to make a film. A weekend can make or break its fate,” says the actor, whose last release opposite Tiger Shroff, Baaghi, raked in high numbers at the box office.
Recently, it was reported that the next film in the Aashiqui franchise will star Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead roles. The second instalment of the franchise, Aashiqui 2 (2012), made Shraddha a star overnight. Did she want to be part of the third one too? “I don’t see how me or Aditya (Roy Kapur; actor) could be part of this movie, since his character passes away in the second film,” says Shraddha, adding, “They needed a fresh story and a new pair for the next instalment. But I do hope that the new film is a blockbuster just like Aashiqui 2.”
Soon, the actor is set to star in a film alongside her brother, Siddhant Kapoor. While he will essay the role of gangster Dawood Ibrahim, Shraddha will play his sister, late Haseena Parkar, on whom the film is based. “I’m excited to be sharing screen space with my brother. It is a special chance — to be seen with him as his sister on the big screen. We are nervous, but excited,” says Shraddha.
The Bollywood actor wants to do different kinds of films. “I would love to be versatile. I want to do my best in the movies that I’m doing. After all, you have just one life, so you might as well live your dream,” she says.
Apart from acting, Shraddha is passionate about music. In fact, the actor is set to star in the sequel to Rock On!!. She will also lend her voice to tracks in the film. But what happens to playback singers when actors step into their shoes? “There is no hard and fast rule for actors who want to sing their songs, or for singers who want to become actors. It’s been one of my dreams to sing and dance in my movies,” she says.

The existing generation of actors in Bollywood is considered to be one that’s mature and friendly, and yet competitive. Shraddha believes that is the case because there are ample opportunities for everyone. “There’s competition, but there are also many opportunities for people to be part of films. Production houses trust in new talent and giving people a platform. So, while there is competition, you appreciate each other’s work,” she says.
The actor adds that while she has no plans of what she wants to do next, she is in a happy space in her career at the moment. “I would like to go with the flow. Right now, I’m very happily involved in the films I’m doing,” she signs off.
