She started her career with regional cinema and actor Vidya Balan, who will be playing Geeta Bali in a Marathi film, says that the language of the film has never made any difference to her.

The 37-year-old says that it is only the role that she is particular about. “Acting in any medium or language is acting. There is no career strategy that I have. If something excites me, I will do it. I have this Bengali film which I am working on and have done a special appearance in a Malayalam film a few years ago. I had the chance to play Geeta Bali in a Marathi film, which I thought was interesting,” she says, adding, “It’s a biopic on Bhagwan Dada recreating the classic film Albela (1951). I thought it was a great opportunity and I am glad that I did it.”

The actor, who has been seen in films such as Kahaani (2012) and The Dirty Picture (2011), has also acted in films such as Bobby Jasoos (2014) and Ghanchakkar (2013), which have not done well at the box office. However, she says that she has never found a particular reason for a film not being accepted.

“There have been films that haven’t done well and of course it bothers you when you have worked hard in a film and it doesn’t do well. You are close to every film that you do. But for some or the other reason, there are some things that don’t work out. While you can spend loads of time agonising and trying to analyse why it didn’t work out, I don’t think anyone ever knows why something didn’t work. So I think it’s best to accept it and let it go. Raat gayi baat gayi,” she says.
