When the Broadcast Audience Research Council India came out with the list of films that have done well in terms of Television Rating Point (TRP) on world television premieres, Varun Dhawan’s latest film, Dishoom, emerged as the winner.

Clearly, that hasn’t gone unnoticed. HT Café has learnt that the young actor has been approached by a top TV channel for a “big-ticket satellite deal” for his upcoming films. “Yes, one of the top GECs (General Entertainment Channel) has come up with a lucrative offer for Varun’s films, but nothing has been finalised yet,” says an insider.

If the deal goes through, it is likely to include all of the actor’s upcoming films such as Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2, among others.

Till now, only Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Hrithik Roshan have reportedly signed big satellite deals. “It’s not just about Dishoom topping the charts. It’s also the fact that he is very popular amongst audiences, especially kids,” adds the insider. When ranked by TRP, Dishoom is followed by Housefull 3, Baaghi, Dilwale and Sanam Re, among others.

“For the time being, Varun hasn’t taken a call about this, as he needs to discuss it in detail with his team. But since he flew out to Singapore on Tuesday (October 18) to wrap up the shoot of his next, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, he hasn’t had the time for a meeting. Once he returns in about a month, Varun and his team will decide,” adds the insider. Despite repeated attempts, Varun couldn’t be reached for a comment.
