It’s been hectic and crazy, and there have been times when I’ve wanted to pull my hair out!” says an exhausted Vidya Balan who has spent the last few months promoting two films — The Dirty Picture (2011) and Kahaani (2012) — back-to-back, almost single-handedly.
The National Award winning actor has been working non-stop since December 2009 and now wants a vacation.
“I want to read, listen to music, catch up on movies, spend time with my loved ones and yes, sleep! My parents have threatened to lock me in if I don’t rest,” says Vidya who, after putting on 12 kilos for The Dirty Picture, also wants to hit the gym.
A month ago, she wrapped up the shoot for an item song for mentor-producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Ferrari Ki Sawari.
“The moves are aggressive and the song oozes sensuality. It was difficult to do even with a Lavani dancer on the sets, but it’s my favourite form and I enjoyed it,” says Vidya, adding that she’s been getting plenty of scripts and will go through them in her free time. Though her next film, Ghanchakkar, will flag off in August-September, the actor is still open to exciting offers. “I’ve been itching to do a comedy and I’m glad it’s with Rajkumar Gupta with whom I made No One Killed Jessica (2011). But first I need my detox break.”
