Vidya Balan’s performance as Krishna in Ishqiya (2010) was praised by critics and audiences alike.
Three years on, the producers of the first film — Vishal Bhardwaj and Ketan Maru — are coming out with the sequel, Dedh Ishqiya. Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, the movie sees Madhuri Dixit return to the big screen after a gap of six years and also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi.
Although, Vidya is not a part of the film, the producers wanted her to be present at the trailer launch. However, Vidya won’t be able to make time for it. "We had invited Vidya for the launch of the trailer of Dedh Ishqiya. She was a part of Ishqiya and, even though she is not in the new film, she could have been part of the trailer launch," says Ketan, co-producer of the film.
However, since Vidya will not be attending the trailer launch, the makers are holding a special screening for her to ensure that she does see it when the actor has some time. “She played a pivotal role in the first part and added value to the project,” says Ketan.
Interestingly, not only Vidya, the producers are also facing difficulty in getting the actors of the new multi-starrer together for the launch. "We are planning to launch the trailer this week. But, as it is a multi-starrer, it is difficult to match everyone's dates. Arshad is in Goa attending a wedding. But we are sorting it out," adds the film-maker.
