Vir Das stayed away from comedy for a month... to prepare for a film
Actor Vir Das did not perform comedy shows for a month, to prepare for his serious role in a short film.
Actor Vir Das who is known for his rib-cracking comedy, refrained from performing comic acts for some time, as his new short film required him to portray a serious character.
“I stayed away from comedy consciously for a month before Raakh. I wanted to stay in the mood of the character and felt that keeping away from comedy would make me more like the on-screen character. I love comedy and it will always be a very important part of my life, but my films are also a choice that I make and whatever helps me improve my work, I will do it,” says Das, who has been part of films such as Go Goa Gone(2013), Shaadi Ke Side Affects (2014), Amit Sahni Ki List (2014) and October 31(2016).
The actor took this decision consciously, to enhance his performance in the short film, directed by Milap Zaveri.
“I did not have second thoughts about it because it was for the betterment of my own character in the film. I have always been keen to do varied roles, given that I have done theatre when I was younger. I’m glad Milap saw that I could essay this character,” says the actor.
