Actor and stand up comedian Vir Das is ready to tickle your funny bone with his performance in the Capital.
“Along with my entire troupe, I will be doing various stand up comedy shows for these two days. Our aim is to show people every kinds of comedy that we can,” says the 32-year-old, who will be performing today and tomorrow for the “Festival of Humour” at the India Habitat Centre.
Interestingly, today evening, there will be two 90-minute long acts called, The Cardinal Bengans, which he says is ‘an improvised comedy bharta.” Talking about the same, Das, who shot to fame with his comic act in Delhi Belly says, “This act will also see performances by stand up comedians like Anu Menon, Kavi Shashtri, Rohan Joshi, Padmini Harchandrai, and Kavi Shastri. We want to give people quick fire brand of comedy which is insanely funny, uniquely Indian and absolutely unscripted. Hope people will enjoy it.”
Sunday will also see the performance of Alien Chutney — Das’s comedy rock band. Says Das, “The performance is more of a rock show with funny song lyrics.” This will be followed by Weirdass Show, which will be a scripted show, and the actor claims this show will make people fall off their chair laughing.
The actor, whose kitty is full with various Bollywood projects, says, “I’m doing Tanuja Chandra’s Raakh. I’ll soon begin shooting for Saif Ali Khan’s home production, Go Goa Gone. And then I’ve four more going on the floor next year. But I can’t talk about them yet.”
Ask him what’s his first love — stand up comedy or films — and pat comes the reply, “There’s nothing like that. I want to have a balance in both as I get bored doing one thing for too long.”
