Working on your birthday can be quite a bummer. Vivek Oberoi’s make-up man Nitin Shitole was all set to have a dull birthday as he was busy shooting for Kumar Taurani’s new film, Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story. Little did he know that Vivek had a surprise planned for him.

Director Vinnil Markan says, “We always get a cake and celebrate every unit member’s birthday. This time though, Vivek said he wanted to handle the preparations for the party himself. He looked after everything including getting a huge cake, putting up decorations, ordering food for everyone and even buying gifts for Nitin.”

To keep Nitin in the dark, Vivek and the unit members kept heckling him for a treat. Nitin laughed it off initially but when the badgering continued until midnight, he got a little nervous about treating the entire unit.

However, Nitin was caught completely off-guard when everybody sprang the surprise on him. Vinnil adds, “We wrapped up the shoot 15 minutes before midnight and let Nitin off the hook by singing ‘happy birthday’. Usually, after pack-up, everyone rushes home, but it was nice of the unit to stay back. Of course, smearing Nitin’s face with cake was fun,” he laughs.

Nitin has worked with the actor for a decade now and, since his was the only birthday during the shooting schedule, Vivek wanted to make it special for him.
