WATCH: Dhanush sings Why This Kolaveri Di

Yo boys, I am singing song ... soup song ... flop song, goes Rajinikanth’s son-in-law Dhanush in Why This Kolaveri Di, a song from the upcoming Tamil movie 3 that’s become a viral hit across the country. It kittied the highest ever YouTube views  for an Indian song (12,85,662), 9000 Facebook shares and 10,000 ‘likes’ and the number one spot on top Twitter trends at last count, within just five days of making its way online.

The video, which shows Dhanush recording the song in a studio along with his wife Aishwarya, actor Shruti Haasan and debutant music director Anirudh Ravichander, has become a rage in not just India but also Australia and the Americas for its catchy tune, traditional Tamil percussion and amusing lyrical style. “I just tried to put in some dummy words in the tunes and everyone liked it,” Dhanush had said in an interview.

The word Kolaveri, meaning ‘killer rage’, is also topping search engine requests. “Dhanush with one #kolaveri video has outdone the publicity SRK managed to build over 3 months for Ra.One,” tweeted maxdavinci. “For people who don’t get what #kolaveri means......It means Music transcends language,” wrote José Covaco.

The lyrics
