Shanghai is a political thriller directed by Dibakar Banerjee, starring Abhay Deol, Emraan Hashmi and Kalki Koechlin.
Abhay Deol plays the role of Krishnan, an IAS officer posted in Maharashtra.
Kalki Koechlin plays Shalini, an earnest and innocent student-political activist who wants to change the world.
Shanghai is a political thriller reportedly based on the life of politicians and their greed.
Abhay Deol had a complete makeover to play a 40-year-old bureaucrat.

Shanghai is based on a book titled Z by Vassilis Vassilikos.
Shanghai is slated to release on June 8, 2012.
Serial kisser Emraan Hashmi has underwent an intense makeover in Dibakar Banerjee's Shanghai. The actor is seen gyrating to the song Bharat Mata Ki Jai in the film.
Interestingly, post make-over Emraan even went unrecognised.
"Emraan has a huge fan following. Whenever he comes, people call out his name. Surprisingly no one recognised him (during the shoot of Shanghai) because Emraan sported a small paunch and buck tooth too," Banerjee said in a statement.
Shanghai is a political thriller, which also features Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechlin.
Of Emraan's character, Banerjee said: "Emraan plays a small town guy, a street smart character."
"He is always on the lookout to make money and once in a while does sidey night shoots. If he sees a girl, he will sweet talk her into getting a photo shoot done. Actually, he is a very lovable character with tremendous depth."
The film will release June 8.
