Ever since the trailer of Raman Raghav 2.0 was released earlier this month, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been the newest toast of Bollywood. Playing a psychopathic serial killer Raman Raghav, based on the notorious Psycho Raman of the 1960s, the film’s trailer has already notched up over 3 million hits on Youtube.
The character is another of Nawazuddin’s performance-oriented roles after those in films such as Manjhi - The Mountain Man and Gangs of Wasseypur II. Vicky Kaushal plays a cop in the film directed by Anurag Kashyap.
In a bid to up the pre-release buzz, the makers of Raman Raghav 2.0 released a video that gives a sneak peek into all that went into making the film, and the character. “He (Ramanna) is a serial killer and a psychopath. He is very colourful and that has added layers to my character. He walks around with his own world,” says Nawazuddin about his character in the film.
“The only thing we see as a larger perception is that they are killing people. But why are they killing? Maybe, they enjoy the act. Everyone wants to enjoy,” he adds.
The video also shows Vicky talking about his role. “He is a demented character with a lot of pent up anger,” the Masaan-fame actor says.
