The first trailer of Randeep Hooda and Richa Chadha’s forthcoming film, Main Aur Charles was released on Wednesday evening in Mumbai. Based on the life of notorious serial killer Charles Sobhraj -- alleged to have killed 12 women and currently serving his term in a Nepal jail -- the film is about the daring 1986 Tihar jailbreak he attempted with a couple of other inmates.
Charles Sobhraj dominates the 2:12 minute-long video with every character, including Hooda, who plays the lead role, talking about him in different contexts. At one point, we see Richa Chadha say about the convict: “Jab wo mujhe dekhta hai, I feel like having sex with him.”
Speaking at the trailer launch of the film in Mumbai on Wednesday, Chadha said: “My character in Main Aur Charles is very entertaining. There are a lot of shades to my role. It was one of the most interesting roles I have ever played. I did no preparation because our director was precise of what he wanted. We had a blast doing this film.”
Randeep Hooda had earlier said about the film: “Main Aur Charles is not a biopic. This film is based on a chargesheet given to us by Amod Kant, the investigating officer of the 1986 Tihar jail-break where a man and a couple of other people walked out of the maximum security prison in India. They just walked out of the jail! It’s about that one incident -- how he did it and why he did it.”
Main Aur Charles also stars Adil Hussain and Tisca Chopra, and is set to release on October 30.
