Actor Rani Mukerji recommends Israeli martial art Krav Maga as an effective self defense technique for Indian women to make them ‘bolder, fearless and independent’.
Mukerji practiced this form of martial art as part of her role in her upcoming movie Mardaani that releases on August 22.TECHNIQUE#1
“It is the need of the hour in India that every girl is self protected. If you are an expert in protecting yourself then there is nobody in the world who can intimidate you,” Mukerji said.TECHNIQUE#2
The four-part video series teaches the Israeli martial art form called Krav Maga. “ I learnt Krav Maga while filming Mardaani. It helped me realise that physical strength is not important, the technique is,” Rani added.TECHNIQUE#3
The videos teach four techniques most commonly used in attacks, the bear hug from the front, hand grab in a mount, held hostage by a knife from the back and pistol disarm.TECHNIQUE#4
The actress who plays Shivani Shivaji Roy, a defiant female cop in the film, hopes to send a word of encouragement to all the women through her role. “ Mardaani is not just a film, it’s a spirit, it’s an attitude,” she said.
