Aditya Roy Kapur is one of the few Bollywood actors who manages to pull off his Afro with style. But as the lead actor in the Bhushan Kumar-Vishesh Films co-production, Aashiqui 2, Aditya had to let go of his curls and try over a hundred wigs to find the perfect look.
“We’re still in the process of finalising the look. In spite of trying some 112 odd hairstyles, we’ve still not found the perfect one,” says Aditya.
Is your hair naturally curly?
This is my natural hair and it has always been like this. In fact, if my eldest brother (Siddharth) grows his hair, it will end up looking like mine. Only Kunaal (Roy Kapur) has straight hair.
Has your hairstyle ever cost you a role?
Not to my knowledge at least. I know that everyone has a point of view, but it’s fine. Some may like my look and some may not. But as actors, we’ve got to keep experimenting. So, tomorrow, if for a certain film I’m asked to change my look, I will. But so far, it has all worked well.
Aashiqui 2 has great expectations riding on it. Are you feeling the pressure?
I don’t feel pressurised as of now. In fact, I’m quite excited and so is everyone at Vishesh Films. Let’s see what happens in the months to come.
