The weather gods played spoilsport on the sets of Neil Nitin Mukesh and Richa Chadda’s forthcoming romantic comedy, Ishqueria, which was being shot in Mussoorie. As heavy rains lashed the hills, the shoot first got stalled, and then the makers were compelled to cancel it altogether and move base to a new location. “We had to leave the schedule midway and come back due to bad weather conditions in Mussoorie,” reveals an insider from the unit.

This is Neil’s first film since Lafangey Parindey in 2010 where he will be seen in a solo lead role. Richa Chadda, who last starred in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs Of Wasseypur, is playing the female lead. The film is touted to be a romantic story, which is why debutant director Prerna Wadhawan decided that the beautiful locales of the hill station would be the perfect setting for it. “But after shooting for a month, the weather became unbearably cold, and then there was a hailstorm a few days ago,” says the source.

Besides the storm, the other challenges of shooting in the winter are the shorter days and the light, which is faint during the day. The production team is now scouting for similar locations at other hill stations.

When contacted, Prerna says, “We will most probably recreate the set in Manali now. The production team is scouting for a similar setting, and we should leave for our next schedule as soon that is finalised.”

Meanwhile, Neil has survived a string of flops, and is now banking on his next two films. Besides Ishqueria, he also has an action release called David (by director Bejoy Nambiar) lined up.
