This Diwali, Bipasha in Greece, Bebo and SRK in Toronto and Aamir in London. Bollywood will celebrate Diwali away from home this year. Most of the big stars are out of the country during the festive week, either for shooting or for promotional visits.
Actors Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun Rampal will ring in Diwali tonight in London, after the premiere of their film RA.One. Actor Priyanka Chopra and filmmakers Farhan Akhtar and Karan Johar are likely to join them for a Diwali bash there. On Wednesday, the crew will fly to Toronto for another premiere of the film.
Actors Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor will be in London too, shooting for Reema Kagti’s film Dhuaan. While Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao will fly down to celebrate with him, it will be a quiet day for Bebo. Kareena, who will also be unveiling her wax statue at Madame Tussauds, says the celebrations will be small in light of the fact that beau Saif Ali Khan’s father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi passed away last month. "Although I love celebrating Diwali with friends and family, this time it will be a low-key one," says the actor.
Actors Bipasha Basu and R Madhavan are in Greece for the shooting of their film, Jodi Breakers. "The schedule for filming was really tight, and they could not take time out to come home for the festival, but they are planning a mini-celebration over there," says a source from the unit. Buzz is that actor Shahid Kapoor, who is vacationing in Europe, may also fly to Greece in order to spend time with rumoured love interest Bipasha Basu.
"Hrithik Roshan does something special with his family for Diwali every year, and this time he’s planning an exotic holiday with Sussanne and the kids," says a source close to the actor.
But some stars have desi plans...
The few actors who will be in India this week are going all out to ensure that Diwali is a cracker of an affair. Buzz is that actor Imran Khan is throwing a lavish card party at home, while actor Deepika Padukone, who has just moved into her new house, has organised a Lakshmi Puja at her place.
Actor Amitabh Bachchan has taken time out from work to celebrate Diwali at home with his family.
For some, however, there will be no celebrations. Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra will not be celebrating as a relative is very ill. Anil Kapoor, who lost his father Surinder Kapoor earlier this year, will also keep the affair low key, though he will be with his family.
