The Parsi priest in the US who erroneously called Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, apologised to the actor later.

A few days ago, HT Café reported how Rajiv Bhatia became Akshay Kumar after making a blink-and-miss appearance in Aaj (1987). Now, we have come to know that Akshay was rechristened as Sanjay Kumar in New York, USA, on Friday. On July 8, Akshay was invited as the guest of honour at a Parsi community event in New York. “During the event, a Parsi priest recited prayers. However, he erroneously called him Sanjay Kumar. Although Akshay took it in good humour, the priest wanted to apologise for his mistake,” says an insider.

Later, he went to Akshay’s room to aplogise. But the actor told him that “it was not required”, as it was a mistake. “In fact, Akshay couldn’t thank the priest enough for his special gesture and assured him that he was okay,” adds the insider. At the same event, Akshay was also presented with a pendant of Asho Farohar or Faravahar (one of the symbols of Zoroastrianism). “Akshay hasn’t taken the pendant off since. He is touched by the special gift,” adds the insider.
