When B-town wishes fans, RGV asks: Do you know why we celebrate Holi?
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan, among others, today extended their warm wishes to fans on Holi, most of them appealing to the fans not to waste water this festival. Director Ram Gopal Varma, however, hit a discordant note in the morning, when he posted a string of tweets on his account, saying most people have no idea why they celebrate the festival.

Director Ram Gopal Varma, however, hit a discordant note in the morning, when he posted a string of tweets on his account, saying most people have no idea why they celebrate the festival. Another tweet on his account read thus: “The only HAPPY thing about HOLI is,it gives an elders approved excuse to ogle young girls in wet clothes n feel them wthout getting slapped.”
Bachchan wrote a simple Happy Holi message for his followers on Twitter, while on Facebook he shared a family photo of himself, wife Jaya, daughter Shweta, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya with faces smeared in colours.
Priyanka, who is shooting for Quantico in Montreal, Canada, wrote, “Happy holi from freezing Montreal.” The 33 year-old actress celebrated the festival of colours with her Quantico team. Sharing pictures from the sets, she wrote, “Holi Fever on the sets of Quantico! A big thank you to my Quantico family for giving me a home (sic).”
“Hey guys, I know it’s tough but please try and play a dry Holi.#SaveWater (sic),” posted Abhishek.
Actress Alia Bhatt said, “Happy happy Holi !!!! have a day full of love & laughter and of course COLOUR!! But please please save water this year..We need to!!”
Sonam Kapoor posted on her Twitter page, “Holi is the festival of love... Please love each other, celebrate each other and know that there is nothing greater than that.”
“Happy holi everyone! Enjoy this lovely day but pls be safe & play with safe colours. And pls oh pls don’t throw colours on animals (sic),” wrote actress Anushka Sharma.
Actor Irrfan Khan wrote, “On this day that signifies the victory of good over evil, let us colour the world with peace and love! Happy Holi.”
Actress Parineeti Chopra tweted, “Happpyy holi!! Go play, be safe!! And dont throw colours at animals please (sic).”
“Happy Holi!!!!!!!!!!!! Save water and save our syncretic culture!(sic),” tweeted actress Aditi Rao Hyadri.
“Happppyy Holi everyone!!! Have a fun safe and colorful Dry holi this time.. Save water!” actress Kriti Sanon posted.
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma wrote, “I wish that colours of Holi will never come off people’s faces so that their true colours will be forever hidden by their false colours (sic).”
After this post, Varma posted a series of tweets on the festival.
Kapoor and Sons star Rishi Kapoor posted, “Wishing all the rainbow! Happy Holi.”
