Last year’s Ragini MMS turned out to be a sleeper hit and a sequel to the horror-thriller is set to go on the floors with adult film star Sunny Leone in the lead. Now, the latest news is that producer Ekta Kapoor has signed director Bhushan Patel, who debuted with 1920: Evil Returns, to helm the sequel.

Apparently, Ekta was completely floored by the film’s promos when they first went on air. “Right then, she had decided that Bhushan (who is Vikram Bhatt’s protégé) should direct the sequel. She is confident that Bhushan can do justice to the sequel, since it’s also in the horror genre,” says an insider.

Bhatt’s production, 1920: Evil Returns, stars Tia Bajpai and Aftab Shivdasani and Bhushan says that he is overjoyed by the reaction the film has received from the audiences.

Sunny"It’s overwhelming. To add to the excitement is this opportunity of directing Ragini MMS 2 with a production house as big as Balaji. I hope to re-create the magic with this film," says Bhushan. Earlier, it was speculated that Vikram Bhatt might be a possible director for the sequel.

The film, in all likelihood, will kick off early next year with Sunny, who made her Bollywood debut this year with Pooja Bhatt’s dud, Jism 2.

“What started off as a humble experimental film has turned into a franchise called Ragini MMS. We liked the promos of 1920: Evil Returns and took a leap of faith in signing Bhushan. Given the film’s impressive box office performance (so far), it was the right decision,” says Tanuj Garg, CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures.

After Jism 2, it's Ragini MMS 2 for Indo-Canadian porn star Sunny Leone and she reveals that the shooting of the horror-thriller sequel will start in a few months.

"I love India. I am so happy I am here, I'll be staying here for a while. I have a lot of different projects coming up. Ragini MMS 2 is something we are going to start shooting by the end of this year," the 31-year-old said here Sunday at the announcement of her association with music company Saregama which will give its customers access to her content.

Taking about the preparations for Ragini MMS 2 and other projects, she said: "I'll be doing workshops here in India, I'll be doing them before Ragini MMS 2. I'll be taking dance classes, Hindi lessons, watching Hindi movies... It's like going back to school for me."

Ragini MMS 2 is a sequel to Ekta Kapoor's 2011-film Ragini MMS which starred Kainaz Motivala and Raj Kumar Yadav.

Meanwhile, Sunny does not feel any heat from established Bollywood actresses.

"I don't like the word. Competition is something, unless it's in sports, it's kind of like a negative word, at least in my book. These women (actresses) work so hard. I know what goes into making a movie now," Sunny said.

"I know all these different appearances and other things that we do, it's a business and on top of that you have a lot of fun. But competition, everyone is in their own league and in their own space," she added.
